About the Role

Job Overview (Center Director):
The Director is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the center. This position is responsible for the smooth day-to-day operations, financial management, curriculum delivery, employee/student retention and achievement, parent/community relations, and strategic planning for the school. The Director must perform a variety of highly responsible, confidential and complex administrative duties including, but are not limited to, budgeting, marketing, bookkeeping/recording procedures, curriculum knowledge and employee relations.
Qualifications of Staff:
The center director shall have responsibility for the day to day operation and management of the center including supervision of the planning and implementing of the children's daily activities, supervision of staff, and responsibility for maintenance of the center.
The center director shall be at least 19 years of age
shall have at least twenty (20) clock hours of training in administration and management
at least four (4) clock hours of training in quality child care.
In addition, the center director shall meet at least one (1) of the following training categories:
One hundred twenty (120) clock hours of training in child care; a high school diploma or general education diploma (G.E.D.); and at least twelve (12) months of working experience as a child care worker/teacher or as a director/program director in a licensed day care center or a Department approved setting. Training in child care shall include at least twenty (20) clock hours in each of these areas:
child development;
health, safety and universal precautions;
quality child care and licensing;
the child care professional and the family;
language development;
positive discipline and guidance.
OR
A child development associate credential (CDA) or a certified child care professional certificate (CCP) from the National Child Care Association Inc. (NCCA) and a high school diploma or general education diploma (G.E.D.); and at least twelve (12) months of working experience as a child care worker/teacher or as a director/program director in a licensed day care center or a Department approved setting.
OR
An associate degree in child development or early childhood education from a post-secondary school (technical, vocational, junior college), and at least nine (9) months of working experience as a child care worker/teacher or as a director/program director in a licensed day care center or a Department approved setting.
OR
A bachelor's degree in child development or early childhood education and at least six (6) months of working experience as a child care worker/teacher or as a director/program director in a licensed day care center or a Department approved setting.

As the Child Care Director you understand what it takes to inspire a team and build a great program. You are a positive influence and motivate others to be their best. You effectively manage the day-to-day operations to ensure quality throughout the center. The work you do is vitally important and makes a difference to the lives of children, families, and your staff.
Manage assigned schools in accordance with company financial and budgetary guidelines.
Hire, train, and supervise teachers and other staff.
Operate the school according to state licensing standards
Assist teachers with the weekly development and execution of the curriculum and program activities.
Purchase supplies, equipment, food, and other materials necessary for program operations.
Execute marketing plan (both internal and external) necessary to maintain desired enrollment.
Ensure a safe environment for the children in our care.

Pay: $20,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year

Requirements

Position Requirements

  • Must be an Adult (19 years of age or older)

  • Must have CHARACTER AND SUITABILITY.

  • Must be able to pass a DHR Background Screen.

  • Must have a clean background and no history of violent acts against children.

Additional Requirements

The director, teachers, aides/assistant teachers, all service staff and all substitutes shall 

Must have at least one (1) hour of preservice training from an outside source in each of the following eleven (11) required areas: 

(1) Prevention and control of infectious diseases (including immunization)

(2) If applicable, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) prevention and use of safe sleeping practices, (3) Medication administration 

(4) Prevention of and response to emergencies due to food and allergic reactions 

(5) Building and physical premises safety

(6) If applicable, Prevention of shaken baby syndrome and abusive head trauma 

(7) Emergency preparedness and response planning 

(8) Handling and storage of hazardous materials/correct disposal of bio contaminants (9) Recognition and reporting of child abuse and neglect 

(10) First aide and CPR and; 

(11) If applicable, appropriate precautions in transporting children.

Must be enrolled in the Alabama Pathways Professional Development Registry

The center director must complete an orientation training on the assessment tools utilized by the Department’s Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS).

Little Learners Academy was Founded in August of 2022. We are a 24-hour childcare facility that is dedicated to meeting the needs of our clients. Our Childcare facility offers a warm, caring environment with high- quality education for children ages 6 weeks (about 1 and a half months) to 12 years. Our learning curriculum is individualized to every age, with activities that combine learning and fun to create happy, curious kids.
